Letters received, 1904-1952.

Collection consists of ca. 200 letters received from several artists, primarily printmakers, illustrators and caricaturists. Many of the letters concern work for Noel Clement-Janin's books and articles on prints and illustrations, including his study on prints and the war which appeared in the "Gazette des Beaux-Arts" in 1917. Though often personal in nature, the letters also contain information about exhibits and technical matters and on printmaking ventures. The collection includes: nine letters from Guy Arnoux (1916-1918); four letters from George Auriol (1910-1917); five letters from Ferdinand Bac (1909-1913); twelve letters frum Jules Cheret (1916-1920); fourteen letters from Gabriel Gostiaux, many illustrated, most of which are presumably to Clement-Janin's father Michel Hilaire Clement-Janin (1867-1876).

ca. 225 items.
